INTRO
Hello and welcome to my web site and my biography. This biography was compiled
by me and a number of people that I've been fortunate to call friends through the years. I thank all of these friends for
their kindness, support, and generosity through the good times and the tough times in my life.
Why a bio? Hmmmm, I don't know. Maybe my ultimate goal is that I hope for
people to come away from the page willing to accept who I am, and therefore accept my value...and by extension, the value
of every other person in the world. My hope here is to generate interest in the person visiting my site. I hope you feel like
you are a welcomed guest in my little home on the web as you read this stuff and see how my life got so messed up!
Along with the bio, I share many stories of places I've been, people I've
met, and things I've experienced. My life is like any life, I suppose. There's the good, the bad, and the ugly. I hope you
all enjoy reading all of this stuff and maybe even learn something from it. As you read, you'll find things that make you
laugh, things that make you mad, things that make you think "what the hell", and maybe even some things that may make you
cry. Well, unless you're one of those macho tough guys! In other words, this is all about life.
The bio starts out by introducing you very briefly to my
childhood. Then I go into my early days as a "paid" musician (even though the pay was rather insignificant). You'll learn
how my climb to the big leagues of the music world was no easy task. It was all purely and simply very hard work with a lot
of risk and even more sacrifice. My success, albeit minor by most standards, was achieved by a combination of perseverance,
some smart business decisions, sharing a common goal with four other guys, and the ability of the band members to exist with
each other's individual quirks.
One of the most interesting parts (in my humble opinion)
of the bio is when I discuss what it was like to be on the road with the bands. It isn't all fun and games as many like to
think. In fact, many times it's just the opposite. This usually comes as a surprise to those who have never done it. It may
look glamorous, but looks can be deceiving!
I tried to wrap up the Arson era (in 1985) with a tad more
insight into the music business, and throw in some of my personal reflections. I got some input directly from a few others
(like AC Jones and our old "roadie" Herbie Winkler). I made every attempt to tell it like it is without putting anyone down
or trying to be "cool". I write about the unraveling of my band Arson and my life after that in a way that is very "matter
of fact". I'll admit I'm not completely humble, but hey, I'm not overly boastful either! So there! ;-) I only briefly mention
anything about drugs, although drug use was rampant, and more abuse and misuse than just use! I avoid the topic of groupies
and sex altogether, although that was rampant too. It's just not something I think is compelling or interesting, and takes
away from the overall message I'm trying to convey.
You'll also see a ton of pictures that I've managed to get from my friends
who actually kept stuff (unlike me) through the years. I thank all of my friends who helped make this page possible with their
pictures, stories, and accounts of what happened...and for reminding me of a lot of things I'd forgotten!
Anyone who is into classic rock history and the music of
the 1980s will, I hope, find this bio interesting. People who want to learn a little more about the inside workings of the
music business should find some interesting reading right here.
I've included links to some of my favorite sites that relate to things
I'm sharing with you. Feel free to visit these sites as they have even more for you to enjoy.
You can also drop me a note anytime. I do read all of my mail.
Come on in and enjoy!
